This intensive, pre-boarding school programme combines learning English with other academic subjects.
Levels: intermediate to advanced (CEF B2 - C1)
Our intensive Academic English Programme is designed for students who are looking to improve their English whilst also learning academic subjects e.g. Maths, Science, Humanities etc. It is ideal for students who are planning to go to a British boarding school or for those who want to gain a 'taster' of British boarding school life. Students also meet and mix with Resident English Student Hosts many of whom attend British boarding schools themselves.
UPPINGHAM SCHOOL
Uppingham School, one of Britain's leading co-educational schools, was founded in 1584. The attractive buildings in the town are mostly built from local ironstone. It is 160km north of London and just over two hours by road. Birmingham is 1.5 hours by road and Cambridge, Peterborough and Leicester can be reached in one hour. Just 15 minutes away is Rutland Water, Europe's largest man-made lake,
where students can try canoeing, raft building, high ropes and climbing.
The school has both new and historic buildings. The four residences – Samworths, Johnsons, Fairfield and Constables - are located close together, and offer a very good standard of accommodation. The sports facilities are extensive and include football and cricket pitches, tennis courts, indoor swimming pool, gym and sports hall.
We also take advantage of the school's impressive modern Language Centre, IT suite, theatre, drama studio, lecture theatre for showing DVDs and Leonardo Art centre.
